What's not to love about good food and drink in the city? If you're a foodie who frequents the downtown area, the Good Food and Drink Festival is a must-visit in early April. One of Toronto's many culinary events, it's celebrating a quarter-century in 2014 – that's 25 years of success and many satisfied visitors. Read on to find out more.
Dates, Times and Location
The event will take place from April 3rd to 6th only and will be hosted at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place. The schedule is planned to change each day running April 3rd from 6 to 10pm, April 4th from 12 to 9pm, April 5th from 10am to 9pm, and April 6th from 10am to 5pm. The venue is easily accessible by car or public transport.
There's a little bit of everything to be found at this festival! On opening night, you can be one of only 1000 guests to get advance access tickets to the 19+ VIP Preview Party to enjoy an exclusive cheese tasting, gift bag, sampling tickets and car service. On-stage demonstrations will be hosted by celebrity chefs Fina Scroppo, Vikram Vij and Michael Olson. The Dairy Farmers of Canada will also be offering 30-minute presentations that will include the tastings of 6 different cheeses. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy food from some of the city's most popular food trucks, including Bacon Nation, Smoke's Poutinerie and Busters Sea Cove.
We bet you're wondering how much this festival costs by now! General Admission tickets are available online at a cost of $12.00, or at the door for $15.00. These prices include access to the event, a show bag and a Govino wine glass. Both online and door tickets cost $11.00 for seniors and are free for children 12 and under. Group tickets are are available online, as well as a Couples Package for $50.00, which includes 2 tickets, a show bag, Govino wine glass and 30 sampling tickets. Tickets to the VIP Preview Party cost $50.00, while a 20 sampling ticket pack is $20.00 and is valid for beer, spirits, wine and vendor-specified food.
