Spring has officially sprung and with it comes the 24th Annual Canada Life CN Tower Climb. Registration is now open for this exciting event, which runs from May 1st to 3rd, 2014. Funds raised will go to support the World Wildlife Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and their dwindling habitats.
Whether you're an athlete or more of an observer, this event is for Torontonians of all shapes and sizes. “The Team Challenge," which is for groups of between 4 and 7 co-workers or friends, will be held on Thursday, May 1st, from 530 to 7pm. Teams will fundraise together under a fun group name to benefit our planet and many at-risk species. “The Public Climb," which is open to anyone up for the challenge, will run on Saturday, May 3rd from 6 to 10am. Participants can raise funds individually or as teams with youth groups, friends and family. All registered climbers will be entered into a draw to win a giant Panda or Tiger plush!
Those not physically able to tackle the tower, or who live outside the city and can't make the trek, are encouraged to take on “The Climbless Climb” by fundraising online for the WWF. Registered non-climbers are also entered into a draw to win a giant plush Panda and this is another great way to support the cause and raise awareness.
Participants must seek out sponsors, who are asked to complete pledge forms and provide donations in the form of cheque, cash or credit card payment. The WWF recommends reaching out to family, close friends and co-workers, and spreading the word via social media and email. Successful fundraisers who reach goals of, for example, $85.00, $150.00, $500.00 or $1,000.00, are rewarded with great incentives such as ceramic mugs, Jr. Wildlife plushes, gift cards and more.
