10 Places Toronto World Cup Fans Unite

by Kristen 16th June 2014

We've reached the end of the first round of games. Think switching up your location will give your team better luck?

Try these great Toronto bars that are showing every game from start to finish on big screen televisions, alongside delicious food and beer in portions ideal for big groups.

England: The Duke of Gloucester, 649 Yonge St.

At The Duke of Gloucester, you'll feel like you're in the heart of England. You can watch every match here with fellow fans on one of the many TVs or on the big screen projector.

Spain: El Rancho 430 College St.

If you're looking for fellow Spanish fans, follow the pack to El Rancho. They serve traditional Spanish dishes and great wine and beer.

Italy: Café Diplomatico, 594 College St.

Whether you're Italian or on that fanwagon, you can rest assured that Café Diplomatico will be showing every game. On July 13, they will be hosting a daylong street party to show that they are the best and, of course, to celebrate the end of the World Cup.

Portugal: Piri Piri Restaurant, 1444 Dupont St. W.

Looking for an authentic experience to help your team bring home the cup? Piri Piri has put in 6 new TVs and even has a special viewing room just for the World Cup. They will be showing every game so come in for a simple but mouth-watering menu and some Portuguese excitement.

Brazil: Copacabana Steakhouse, 150 Eglinton St. E.

This year, the Brazilians have to do it right. Though you weren't able to go halfway across the world like you wanted to, Copacabana Steakhouse can give you the next best thing. Immerse yourself in the culture, “come for the game, and stay for the samba!”

Argentina: Sky Ranch, 2473 Duffering St.

Head to Sky Ranch, “the typical corner of Buenos Aires in the heart of York.” Come to try authentic Argentinian cuisine and celebrate with fellow Argentina fans.

Greece: Fox and Fiddle, 535 Danforth Ave.

A warm and vibrant atmosphere all year round, you will definitely find your kind here in Greektown during the World Cup. They have many TVs, delicious pub-style food and cold beer.

Germany: The Musket, 40 Advance Rd.

Enjoy a wonderfully German meal, with sides and a pint, as well as the game for just $20. Arrive earlier than the match because the kitchen closes during games due to over demand.

Japan: Japanese Canadian Culture Centre, 6 Garimond Ct.

Watch the June 24th game, Japan vs. Columbia, without standing in a hot crowd. Head to the Japanese Cultural Centre for a pleasant experience watching it in their movie theatre.

France:  Zazou Lounge, 315 King St. W.

Zazou Lounge is only playing French matches. This means that it's exclusive and French fans will revel in a high-quality experience here. Enjoy the croque-monsieurs and pints of beer in the midst of the cultural excitement.

It's the spirit of the fans that make for a magical experience during the World Cup in Toronto and the city has what you're looking for. Find your place and cheer on your team with great food, drinks and company.
