The 2014 World Cup is finally upon us and to say Toronto football fans are excited is an understatement. The first round of games will soon be coming to an end and tension is mounting – who's going to take it? If you'd like to watch your favourite team play while enjoying some reasonably-priced drinks and dishes, the following are some of the best specials available in the city.
Pizzeria Via Mercanti
With two Toronto locations, one on Elm Street and one on Augusta Avenue, Pizzeria Via Mercanti knows how to celebrate sports - especially if Italy is involved. Partnered with Labatt's, they're offering 20-ounce pints of Budweiser for only $6 until July 13th. Italian games will take precedence at this bar and each location will also hand out 100 free Italy scarves, as well as free Budweiser hats and shirts.
King Street's Banknote Bar is a landmark establishment of the downtown core. Stop by to watch the game and enjoy one of their many food and drink specials. They offer $5 pints on Thursdays, $7 wine on Saturdays and $3 Budweiser on Sundays, as well as $7 pasta dishes on Mondays and 50% off of mouth-watering wings and nachos on Wednesdays.
Both the Yonge/Eglinton and Yonge/Dundas locations of the Pickle Barrel are showing how much they love the World Cup. In addition to their usual daily specials, they are offering branded golf aluminum Budweiser pints every day for only $4.99. Might as well get two!
Coopers Irish Pub
Situated a bit west of the city on Burnhamthorpe Road, Coopers Irish Pub is the perfect destination for those who live closer to Mississauga. Gather up your fellow football fans to indulge in a pitcher of Budweiser alongside 15 wings for just $21.99, which is available only during games.
A gem of King Street West, The Citizen is known for their brand new patio. Showing 3pm and 6pm games only, they will be offering beer, wine and cocktails for $4, pitchers of sangria for $20 and half-price appetizers until 7pm. Normally available from 5 to 7pm only, these specials start at 230pm during the World Cup.
If you're looking to get your drink (and eat!) on during football season, now is the time! Visit Pizzeria Via Mercanti, Banknote Bar, Coopers Irish Pub, The Citizen or the Pickle Barrel for a good time that won't break the bank. You'll want to stay for the next game!
