An informative, engaging social media profile, whether it be for business or personal, is key to success. We've already discussed improving your LinkedIn profile and Twitter seemed to be the logical next step. A platform that is quite different in terms of functionality and professionalism than its corporate counterpart, Twitter is where many businesses get their start online. The following tips are 3 ways to polish your profile and make it truly shine.
Boost Your Bio
A solid biography is a great way to boost interest in your Twitter account. Describe yourself accurately, and in an upbeat manner – we know that 160 characters may not be much, but it's important to make the best of them. Avoid annoying abbreviations and an overabundance of hashtags, and include relevant keywords. A human voice goes a long way.
Pick a Profile Pic
A Twitter profile without a photo is simply incomplete. Choose a picture that represents your personality, but is also professional. As suggested in our LinkedIn post, a smiling headshot is a great way to go. Profiles with photos receive higher engagement; remember to avoid group and action photos, and similar shots.
While Twitter offers a wide range of pre-made themes, creating a personalized background and header photo will make your profile truly stand out. Choose images and colours that represent what you're all about. For example, if you're creating an account for your small business, incorporate the logo and perhaps one of your special offers. Not design-savvy? Many boutique digital agencies offer social media services just like this!
Polishing your Twitter profile is as easy as boosting your biography, customizing your layout and picking the right profile picture. Do you have any other tips or tricks for this popular social platform? We'd love to hear them!
