You Don't Want to Miss The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE)

On now and running until September 1st, the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is transforming Toronto into a hub of entertainment, rides, games, delicious food and great shopping. Here's a short guide to what you definitely don't want to miss.

Rides & Games

Think rides are just for kids? Think again. The CNE has prepared the grounds for Toronto's most daring visitors with a Zip Line that careens down more than 1,100 feet; the Mach 3, a 37-metre arm connected mid-way that whirls riders 360 degrees upside down and inside out; and many classics from years past. The Kiddie Midway also has many fun rides if you are accompanying small children.

Whatever you fancy, from a magnificent air show to unbelievable cirque acrobatics and animal shows and contests, you can expect jaw-dropping live entertainment at the CNE. These spectacles are fun for the whole family to enjoy. See the full schedule here.

Food & Celebrity Chefs

Foodies celebrate! The Toronto Star Food Building is visited by over 1 million people per year because of it's roster of local restaurants serving a plethora of worldly cuisines from Asian to Caribbean, homestyle burgers and more.

Check out the food building directory here. They've got it all, including halal, dairy free, gluten free, peanut free, vegetarian and more options for those with health restrictions. The ex is known for introducing amazing new foods such as Chocolate Fried Chicken (Coco's Fried Chicken), Thanksgiving Waffles (Fran's Restaurant) and Spicy Peanut Butter Spiracha Rolls (Fran's Restaurant).

Celebrity chef experts, from Chef Michael Smith to Jim CarukMarilyn Smith and more will also be sharing some of their culinary magic! Why not participate in a demonstration or workshop?

Names such as Tim Hicks, Tom Cochrane and even Hanson will be gracing the Exhibition stage along with many other artists. Attendees will be able to enjoy everything from reggae and mediterranean tunes to country and rock music.

If you enjoy opening your wallet, the CNE hasn't forgotten you. The Exhibition is home to a wide range of pavilions selling everything from arts, crafts and bespoke items to top of the line home electronics and high-quality kitchenware. There will be an outdoor and indoor pavilion, as well as an International Pavilion housing exquisite jewellery, clothing, home furnishing, gifts and furniture.

Whether you go for the thrill of the rides, to see the entertainment, to enjoy the decadent food, or to rock out to great music, the Canadian National Exhibition is one of the biggest events Toronto has to offer! Kick off the end of the summer with a celebration of the best the country has to offer. Admission costs $18. See the website for more details on ticket prices and deals.
