Drink Recipes for New Year's Eve in Toronto

2014 is almost over, Toronto...where did the time go? If you're celebrating the arrival of the new year with friends and family, these drink recipes are guaranteed to please. Reminiscent of summer, they use simple ingredients and are ideal for both small gatherings and large parties.

Raspberry-Lemon Ricky

Tart and refreshing.

  • 8 oz. raspberry vodka

  • 2 oz. limoncello

  • 2 oz. simple syrup

  • 10 raspberries

  • Lime wedges


  • Combine vodka, limoncello, simple syrup and raspberries in a cocktail shaker.

  • Fill shaker with ice and shake well. Pour into glasses and garnish with lime wedges.

  • Makes 4 servings.

Watermelon-Tequila Cocktail

A great way to use a classic fruit!

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 8 cups diced seedless watermelon

  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice

  • 1 3/4 cups blueberries

  • 3/4 cup lightly packed fresh mint leaves (extra for garnish)

  • 1 1/4 cups silver tequila

  • Ice


  • Add water and sugar to a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and lower to moderate heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside to cool.

  • Puree watermelon in a blender until smooth. Strain, extracting as much juice as possible from the pulp, which can be discarded or saved for another recipe.

  • Combine the sugar syrup, lime juice, blueberries and mint leaves in a large pitcher. Muddle the blueberries and mint gently; add the watermelon juice and tequila. Stir and refrigerate until cold.

  • Serve in tall glasses with ice, garnished with mint.

  • Makes 8 servings.

Grapefruit Press

The perfect combination...

  • 8 oz. gin

  • 8 oz. grapefruit juice

  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice

  • Lime wedges


  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add gin, grapefruit juice and lime juice.

  • Shake well and strain into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with lime wedges.

  • Makes 4 servings.

White Peach Bellini

A lesson in simple.

  • 2 white peaches (scored, blanched, peeled and pitted)

  • Italian prosecco (chilled)


  • Puree peaches in a blender until smooth.

  • Pour puree into a champagne flute and top with chilled prosecco.

  • Makes 1 serving.
